Ozwinds operates two stores, managed by musicians and certified musical instrument repair technicians. The team is committed to providing expert advice, high-quality products, and exceptional after-sales service.

The business was founded by Brian Ebert, a qualified brass and woodwind technician, who opened Brass "n" Woodwind Workshop in 1989. Originally a repair facility in Glenhuntly, Victoria, the workshop moved to a larger location in Ormond the following year. By 1992, it had gradually evolved into a retail store, initially specializing in second-hand brass and woodwind instruments before expanding into new instrument sales under the name Melbourne Brass and Woodwind Centre.

The company was an early adopter of online retail, launching its first website in the mid-1990s. The Ozwinds online store was established in 2003 and has continued to grow, offering a constantly evolving range of products.

In March 2019, Ozwinds consolidated its retail and workshop operations into a 1,200-square-meter facility in Moorabbin, Victoria. This location is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, designed to serve musicians for decades to come.
